Overview

The route follows the old trail to the summer pastures of Falakro mountain. Nowadays the trail has been affected by the marble mining activity and the ski center operation, but it nevertheless remains a beautiful hike.

Description

From the ski center follow the track to the chapel of Agio Pnevma and then the footpath up to the saddle visible ahead. Passing the saddle decent gently along grassy slopes, eventually reaching the forest where the path turns north-wise and starts descending a bit more steeply. Finally join a track by an abandoned quarry and follow it downhill always in the shade of the forest. At a junction bear left along the smaller track and finally join the paved road going to the marble quarries uphill. Follow this road downhill all the way to the village center.

Signposting

The first leg, down to the valley is sufficiently marked. No signposting after that.

Transportation

Relatively frequent bus to Drama (Tel: 25230-22511). Not so frequent local bus to Kato-Vrontou.
