Overview

This is the first section of the Kerdilia mountain traverse climbing up to 1000m altitude. Its mostly on forest tracks and after a point in the shade of the forest.

Description

Follow the steep road by the cemetery down to the stream and 300m after crossing it, turn left on a broad track uphill among low vegetation yet with nice views to the sea. Eventually the track enters the forest and after about 8km from the village it goes a bit dowhill and crosses a stream. Just after turn left on a smaller track by a pen to join again the dirt road higher on. Continue on a the road for about 1.8km and after a clearing join a track coming from Stefanina village (about one hour from here). Turn right here and after 600m bear left on a broad footpath that crosses a dry stream and starts ascending somewhat steeply and rocky in the beginning but more gentle later on. Eventually it comes to a gully where it becomes very fuzzy due to forestry and finally emerges on a forest track. Turn left here and on a junction immediatly after turn right downhill along a gully. Eventually emerge on a large clearing passing by a dry water trough. Then the track continues uphill for a while and then downhill again towards another valley and beautifull camping spot.  If alternatively you wish to camp by water you should turn left 1km before on a small track designatied on the map  that ascents steeply to the main ridge and a sheperds hut. A few meters below there is a water trough and a nice camping spot.
